JOB TITLE: Field Planning Surveyor
JOB LOCATION: Cumbria
TERMS: permanent full time. Site based across Cumbria
THE JOB
The Field Planning Surveyor is responsible for conducting site surveys to support the accurate design and implementation of Fiber to the Premises (FTTP) projects. This role involves using specialized tools to gather data, updating field maps, ensuring compliance with specifications, and liaising with the public to facilitate permissions. The successful candidate will work closely with the planning and wayleaves teams to provide reliable data for project design while ensuring safety and equipment maintenance standards.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
- Site Surveying & Data Collection
- Conduct detailed surveys of land sites using appropriate tools and equipment, gathering data to support accurate FTTP design.
- Review historical records and evidence to verify data accuracy and ensure alignment with Openreach and client specifications.
- Mapping & Documentation
- Update field maps using ArcGIS or other mapping software to support FTTP design.
- Complete and upload daily fieldwork and data to ensure design information is current and accessible by relevant teams.
- Wayleave Engagement & Communication
- Liaise with members of the public to secure wayleave agreements, capturing accurate information for submission to the Wayleaves team.
- Engage effectively with stakeholders and community members to facilitate smooth project progression.
- Equipment & Vehicle Maintenance
- Ensure the maintenance and calibration of surveying equipment, performing weekly audits to check the condition of vehicles and tools.
- Adhere to regular schedules for van and equipment inspections to guarantee operational safety and efficiency.
- Issue Escalation & Compliance
- Promptly escalate any difficulties encountered during surveying to the Supervisor or Manager for resolution.
- Follow health, safety, and ESG guidelines, ensuring all activities are compliant with company standards.
WHAT WILL YOU BRING?
- Proficiency with surveying tools and familiarity with FTTP design requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, with a focus on data accuracy and adherence to specifications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with the public and obtain necessary permissions.
- Commitment to health, safety, and equipment maintenance standards, with experience in using mapping software (e.g., ArcGIS) preferred.
This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in FTTP projects, providing vital data for design and maintaining positive community relationships.
