We have an opportunity in our Streetworks team for an Administrator to support ongoing projects.

The role:

  • Raising,closingand managing notices/permits from end to end including start/stop, PMR, variations, recording excavations etcand completing safe dig prints
  • ProcessingTTR’s,TTROand TTRN applications (depending on which projects working on across NI/GB) to various Highways Authorities
  • Completing risk assessments in line with SWUK protocol
  • Managing our works around other activities while focussing on collaborative working
  • Understanding of permit scheme legislation and the requirements for managingpermitconditions
  • Liaising with the councils (DfI/Cumbria/Westmorland etc) to discuss works and amend where necessary
  • Providestreetworksadministration supportin accordance withbusiness operations
  • Ensure compliance with all elements ofstreetworkslegislation through effective management of notices,permitsand other documents
  • Have the ability toreact and deal with issues arisingas a result ofour works, escalating to Specialist or Team Lead whererequired.
  • Investigate reinstatement defects, including accepting, disputing, passing to 3rd party and updating trackers
  • Notifying relevant parties of over-runs and ensuring theappropriate councilare updated with action taken
  • Reporting low andhigh riskfailsin a timely manner, including the processing and accepting or disputing of thefail
  • Support the build team in dealing with customer complaints in relation toStreetworks/road closure activities andhave the ability toresolve these in a quick andtimelymanner
  • Liaise with operations, local authorities and third parties to arrange bus stop / parking suspensions / road closures and use of portable traffic signals
  • Liaise and arrange traffic management alongside the traffic management team
  • Support the development of processes,workflowsand efficiency improvements
  • Provide technical support and guidance to Operations in relation tostreetworksoffences
  • Take part in theon callrota for weekend coverage of ‘starts and stops’ which is now part of the legislation forstreetworks
  • General administrative duties

Your profile

  • Strong scheduling experience and administrative background(essential)
  • Previousdemonstratable experience in a similar role (desirable)
  • Driven and able to work autonomously withhigh levelof attention to detail
  • Demonstratable experience of following processes and procedures and working to legislative requirements
  • Competent or advanced competency with Microsoft Office applicationsand experience of using company specific software
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels
  • Demonstrable organisation and time management skills
  • Have the ability towork on their own while still achieving deadlines
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to prioritise tasks and focus on performance delivery while promoting efficiency improvements

THE JOB

As a Fibre Splicer/Tester, you will play a vital role in the network build, ensuring that splicing and testing are completed to standard and within compliance. You will have responsibility for ensuring that your work is carried out safely and in line with health and safety regulations and permit requirements.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

· Splicing of live network fusion through using a Fujikura 70s or similar

· Testing and Splicing the external optical fibres to ensure that they are in line with the quality standards using EXFP/ILM/OTDR

· Successful installation of optical fibre cable to Viberoptix required standards, this includes finding faults on the existing networks.

· Compliance with permit requirements

· Production of Fibre characterisation reports.

· Ensure relevant Health & Safety standards are followed and achieved

WHAT WILL YOU BRING?

· Ability to produce, update and interpret records of daily work logs, data recordings and network design maps

· Ability to work on their own as well as part of a team

· Experience of testing and splicing on a Fibre network

· Experience with various types of splice enclosures Corning BPEO’s size 0, 1.5 and 2, Hellermann, Prysmian

· Confident working at heights and underground network when required

· Excellent communication skills across all levels

· Excellent organisation, communication and leadership skills

· Experience of using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel

· Full valid driving licence

We are looking for a Splicer – Network Maintenance (GB) to ensure the network maintenance of the fibre network in Cumbria.

 

This role will involve proactive maintenance as well as reactive fault and emergency work, which will include weekend work on a rota basis.

 

 

The Role:

· Upkeep and maintain fibre infrastructure to current PIA standards

· Cabling and splicing to repair faults and damage on the network, most frequently overhead

· Test, diagnose & fault find on Fibre Network Infrastructures using appropriate equipment (OTDR, light meter, splicing kit, etc)

· Troubleshoot individual and wider network issues

· Accurately document and report damage and repair work through internal company systems

· Adherence to all Health and safety procedures, risk assessments and best practices

· Correct use of equipment and procedures

· Maintain all tools, equipment and vehicles to a high standard

· Follow maintenance schedules to maximise efficiency and meet strict operational deadlines.

· Overall adherence to health and safety policies and procedures across the business

 

 

The Person:

· Knowledge of Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) process

· Experience of fibre cabling, splicing and fault finding

· Experience with overhead infrastructure (poles, ladders, working at height)

· Ability to use fibre testing equipment and interpret results.

· Organised and proactive approach to workload

· Good, positive and professional attitude to work

· Ability to work in a strong team environment

· Uses own initiative in problem solving and to develop ideas and practices

· Excellent time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines

· Flexible approach to working hours and tasks

· Willingness to participate in on-call rotas or out of hours work.

· Full UK driving licence
