THE JOB
As a Fibre Splicer/Tester, you will play a vital role in the network build, ensuring that splicing and testing are completed to standard and within compliance. You will have responsibility for ensuring that your work is carried out safely and in line with health and safety regulations and permit requirements.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
· Splicing of live network fusion through using a Fujikura 70s or similar
· Testing and Splicing the external optical fibres to ensure that they are in line with the quality standards using EXFP/ILM/OTDR
· Successful installation of optical fibre cable to Viberoptix required standards, this includes finding faults on the existing networks.
· Compliance with permit requirements
· Production of Fibre characterisation reports.
· Ensure relevant Health & Safety standards are followed and achieved
WHAT WILL YOU BRING?
· Ability to produce, update and interpret records of daily work logs, data recordings and network design maps
· Ability to work on their own as well as part of a team
· Experience of testing and splicing on a Fibre network
· Experience with various types of splice enclosures Corning BPEO’s size 0, 1.5 and 2, Hellermann, Prysmian
· Confident working at heights and underground network when required
· Excellent communication skills across all levels
· Excellent organisation, communication and leadership skills
· Experience of using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
· Full valid driving licence

We are seeking a Wayleave Officer to join our team in Cumbria.
Job Title: Wayleave Officer
Location: Cumbria GB, Site based
Role Summary:
As a Wayleave Officer, you will play a vital role in facilitating customer connections to the fibre infrastructure by securing wayleave permissions. You will work closely with the Wayleave Supervisor and Manager and collaborate with various internal teams to ensure the efficient achievement of wayleaves to enable installations. Your responsibilities will encompass conducting audits, negotiating agreements, and liaising with stakeholders to navigate the complexities of land ownership and consent processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Wayleave Acquisition
- Collaborate with the Wayleave Manager to obtain permissions for the installation of telecommunications apparatus on both public and private sector properties to enable customer connections.
- Conduct desktop audits of pre-build areas to identify private land and determine necessary wayleave requirements.
- Utilize land searches to identify ownership of private properties and secure wayleaves, easements, and landlord consents.
- Will be required to obtain wayleaves onsite from the landowner as well as remotely
- Negotiation & Coordination
- Negotiate wayleaves for Business Parks, Industrial Estates, and Council properties, ensuring favorable terms for the company.
- Coordinate with Planning, Build, and Installations teams to update requirements and ensure all necessary planning consents, wayleaves, and listed building consents are obtained.
- Liaise with public bodies, including the Department for Infrastructure, Local Councils, and Housing Associations, to facilitate effective network rollout.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Schedule and attend meetings with landowners, Councils, management agents, and other stakeholders as necessary to discuss wayleave agreements and project updates.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for landlords, management agents, and solicitors regarding permissions for installations in residential and business premises.
- Provide timely updates to the Wayleave Manager on progress and any issues that arise during the acquisition process.
- On-Site Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site visits to obtain wayleaves, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and signed.
- Work closely with the Wayleave department to understand policies and processes, maintaining compliance with all regulations.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Experience & Knowledge
- Minimum of 2 years of administrative experience, preferably in a telecommunications environment.
- Previous experience as a Wayleave Officer (1+ year) is highly desirable, with a focus on negotiating wayleaves and managing land permissions.
- Familiarity with the ‘Streetworks’ platform is a significant advantage for data retrieval and review.

- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders, including landowners and local authorities.
- Good organizational skills, capable of managing changing priorities within tight deadlines while ensuring quality output.

JOB TITLE: Splicing Supervisor – Network Maintenance
JOB LOCATION: Cumbria

THE JOB
We are looking for a Splicing Supervisor (GB) to ensure the network maintenance of the fibre network in Cumbria. The successful candidate will have supervisory experience, along with a proven track record of fault finding and splicing on a fibre network.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?
- To take the lead and ensure the network maintenance team are meeting KPIs and targets and are acting in line with health and safety regulations and standards, including the upkeep and maintenance of the fibre infrastructure to current PIA standards
- Attend fault location and complete any make safe/survey actions.
- Identify fault, cause of fault and works required to restore service and record details of damage identified.
- Assisting with planning crews and materials for all activities required to complete all tasks associated to restore service within the Service Level Agreement.
- Identify requirements for street work permits and ensure compliance.
- Supervising engineers on site and reporting any concerns into manager
- Ensure relevant Health & Safety standards are followed and achieved, including but not limited to SSRAs, Street works, audits, inspections, investigations etc.
- Escalation of concerns relating to downtime on network, ensuring appropriate parties are aware and plan is in place to resolve
- Population of all system requirements for fault repair including (but not limited to), Field Services, SRV Population, Outage documentation, ARC GIS evidence.
- Assist with completion of Post Incident Review documentation for critical outages.
- Development of team resulting in streamlining processes as required on network
- Oversee completion of works are carried out in line with acceptable standards
- Attend daily operational calls with the client when required to review progress, workstack, key incidents and escalations.
- Attend weekly progress meetings when required and ensure Council permits are in place to keep works on schedule
- Manage client expectations on date deliveries and volume delivery targets
- Manage risk register in line with delivery programme and documentation of possible delays
- Assess, review, and mitigate commercial & contractual risks
- Monitor work production outputs closely with regular dialogue with the commercial dept.
- Overall adherence to health and safety policies and procedures across the business

The ideal person will have a proven track record of managing reactive maintenance, people and resources to achieve client expectations in a pressurised environment.
- At least 2 years’ experience of managing or supervising a team
Significant experience of testing and splicing on a Fibre network

This role will involve proactive maintenance as well as reactive fault and emergency work, which will include weekend work on a rota basis.
The Role:

· Test, diagnose & fault find on Fibre Network Infrastructures using appropriate equipment (OTDR, light meter, splicing kit, etc)

· Accurately document and report damage and repair work through internal company systems
· Adherence to all Health and safety procedures, risk assessments and best practices
· Correct use of equipment and procedures
· Maintain all tools, equipment and vehicles to a high standard
· Follow maintenance schedules to maximise efficiency and meet strict operational deadlines.
· Overall adherence to health and safety policies and procedures across the business
